South Korea's Chun In-gee wins PGA Women's Championship

Chun In-gee filmed her third major title on Sunday, winning the Women’s PGA Championship to take her first medal since 2016

The 27-year-old South Korean fired a 3-over par 75 under wind at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland, to complete 72 of the five-under-283 holes

That was enough for one winning victory for Lexi Thompson of the United States and Minjee Lee of Australia to take home the $ 1.35 million top prize in a record $ 9 million.

"It means a lot because I did not succeed for about 3 1/2 years," Chun said, his voice broken. "My loyal followers in Korea, have never abandoned me

Chun, ranked 33rd, has not won since October 2018 at the Hana Bank Championship in South Korea, the 76th non-winning event in the world

But after dropping a three-point lead at the start of the day, Chun added a third important trophy after the 2015 US Women's Open and the 2016 Evian Championship.

Chun won the first two rounds and led up to seven strokes before battling to reach the 75s in each of the last two rounds while Thompson ranked sixth in the top six.
