A surprise team is reportedly starting to take shape for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
Earlier this week, it was reported that five teams had contacted the Niners about trading Garoppolo.
Atlanta Falcons is a team inone of theam
"Interesting update: #Falcons are one of five known teams to reach out to #49ers about QB
Jimmy Garoppolo, source confirms," NFL insider Cam Marino said.
The Falcons parted ways with longtime franchise quarterback Matt Ryan earlier this offseason
when they traded him to the Indianapolis Colts.
The NFC South franchise then signed former Oregon Heisman winner Marcus Mariota to a two-year, $19 million contract
He is expected to win the opening gig.
If Atlanta's coaching staff doesn't feel confident with either option, trading Garoppolo
at least as a bridge option -- could be the move.
However, there is a common belief that the Falcons front office is already ready to tank.
That allows them to get a high draft pick next year and take C.J. Stroud or Bryce Young.
Should the Falcons ignore tanking and trade for Garoppolo?
