Emma Raducanu breaks silence after injury nightmare forces season to cut short Former US Open champion Emma Raducanu has had an injury-plagued season

that cut short her most recent setback. The 19-year-old had hoped to take part in two more tournaments including Cluj-Napoca

but broke her silence to say she is missing out on this year's tournament. The world No. 67 suffered a first-round defeat last month while defending her US Open crown.

However, she appeared to turn the tables on her way to the semi-finals at the recent Korea Open, winning three matches only to retire in the third

set of her last four matches due to a left gluteal injury. Despite her injury, the teenager returned to action at this year's Agel Open in the Czech Republic,

where she lost to world number one Daria Kasatkinová 5-7, 4-6. However, a planned trip to Romania for the Transylvania Open next week has been canceled.

The tournament's Twitter message read: "Sadly, Emma Raducanu has been forced to withdraw from the Transylvania Open due to a wrist injury.

. In a short post on Instagram, Raducanu said: "Sad to miss my Cluj friends this year," followed by a sad emoticon. The Romanian tournament has a personal meaning for the British star.
