The most successful woman in motorsport history is adding another trophy to her case.
Women continue to dominate professional motorcycle racing around the world.
Top riders like Maria Herrera, Ana Carrasco and Laia Sanz have been racing the trails in recent years,
but NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle drag racer Angelle Sampey has been giving it to the boys for decades.
The three-time NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle champion has the hardware to do it,
and she's not slowing down anytime soon. At least that's what Sampey's performance at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals suggests.
The sixth round of the season, held in Norwalk, Ohio, June 24-27, 2022, marked a critical point in the pursuit of the championship.
After qualifying second, Sampey dominated the opening heats, taking wins over Ron Tornow, Jerry Savoie and defending champion Matt Smith.
In Sampey's 80th final round, she faced Joey Gladstone in a Suzuki Hayabusa shootout. However, the #02 easily pulled away
from Gladstone as Sampey set a speed of 6.861 seconds / 197.13 mph against Gladstone's 6.928 seconds / 194.60 mph.
