Tony Awards: List of winners
“The Lehman Trilogy” and “MJ” are among the major productions competing in the 75th Tony Awards on Sunday. The radio show, hosted by “West Side Story” star Ariana DeBose, comes as Broadway is trying to get back two years of COVID-related closure. Theatres began reopening in August, but the box office for 2021 to 2022 dropped by 50% from the full pre-epidemic season, which is a sign that audiences are still confused about returning to personal events.

A big night for tony awards
A big night full of many wins can help with shows like “A Strange Loop” or “Paradise Square,” both of which compete for the best music in the box. Other brands, such as “The Lehman Trilogy,” to look further into the history of one of the financial institutions after the 2008 recession, and “Caroline, Or Change,” racist and class music, are already closed, so they will not be able to enjoy -box office bump when they arrive at the winner’s circle.
The Tonys serve as an opportunity for Broadway to celebrate, but this year’s event will once again stand as a tribute to the resilience of the industry. This return period has not always been smooth. New waves of the virus and variants like Omicron have hampered ticket sales in some areas, and almost all brands have had to cancel play or lose major castes in several shows after the COVID outbreak. However, despite the challenges and challenges, about 34 games and music are still shown for the first time this season, with 29 of those games being represented among the selected games.
This year’s broadcast
This year’s broadcast will not suffer from a lack of star power. Hollywood actors like Hugh Jackman (“The Music Man”), Sam Rockwell (“American Buffalo”), Ruth Negga (“Macbeth”), Uzo Aduba (“Clyde’s”), and Billy Crystal. All they are waiting for are imitation prizes.
In the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement, Broadway has been under pressure to raise the profile of many underrepresented communities. Many of the exhibitions nominated for this year’s Tony Awards, such as “Skeleton Crew,” “Paradise Square” and “For girls of color who have considered suicide / when the rainbow” discusses racial issues. Broadway has also made history this season, setting a record for Black game writers.
